"One Touch of nature makes the whole world kin."
- William Shakespeare (1564-1616), Troilus and Cressida.
Cooperation is the key to success. The Association has developed a multitude of cooperative programs aimed at protecting, enhancing, and restoring waterways within our watershed. We believe that everyone can make a difference and reduce the pollution entering our watershed. Our programs and activities teach you how.
As you head home from work today and think about your evening chores – walking the dog, mowing the lawn, washing laundry – you may not realize how everyday activities can affect water quality. However, when it rains, fertilizers, pesticides, pet waste and more are carried into our waterways as run-off. Run-off can add pollutants and excess nutrients to water and therefore threaten the quality and health of our waterways. The good news is that simple actions can reduce our everyday impacts and improve the health of our watershed and the quality of our water.
The Watershed Management Team has developed several programs to reduce pollution by partnering to restore waterways and educate people on their everyday impacts on the environment. Through our River-Friendly Certification Programs, we work cooperatively with businesses, golf courses and residents to assist them in becoming better stewards of the land and protecting our local environment. Restoration projects help make physical changes in the landscape to protect waterways. Project Turtle, our storm drain stenciling program, is an excellent opportunity for education and community service.
In all of our programs, public participation is the key to success. By coming together as a watershed community, we can reduce pollution entering our local waterways and protect this place we call home.
