Calco Dam Removal

The Watershed congratulates NOAA, NJDEP, El Paso Corporation, MWH Americas, Inc., as well as Carl Alderson, Dave Bean, and especially John Jengo of the Raritan River Restoration Initiative for their successful removal of the Calco Dam on the Raritan River.

The dam removal is part of a larger effort to provide access for migratory fish species to habitat in the Raritan and Millstone Rivers. Dams pose a substantial impediment to migratory fish, inhibiting access to historical spawning grounds.
