Our Bold Vision
Bold plans for improvement are underway at the Stony Brook-Millstone Watershed Association. We have recently undergone an extensive assessment of our facilities and grounds with the aim of determining how we can maximize our effectiveness and further our mission.
Embracing the idea of putting our words into action, we are striving to turn the Watershed Reserve into the physical embodiment of our mission. From the photovoltaic panels on the roof of our Nature Center and our water-saving rain barrels and rain garden, to new low volume toilets and energy efficient equipment like our propane lawnmower, the Watershed Association models an array of environmentally responsible actions and strategies.
Building on this strong foundation the Watershed Association adopted a new Master Plan for the Reserve. Through an array of campus-wide enrichments, the Watershed Association hopes to become a more effective and visionary leader. We aspire for our Reserve to serve as a model for environmental responsible living, a science-based center for proactive answers and a mobilizing environment to encourage today’s and tomorrow’s leaders to develop an appreciation for nature’s value. While we aren’t ready to unveil our plans just yet, be prepared to be inspired by what we have in store!
