  • Fall Series

    September 13,14Monarch Madness – Learn about these well-traveled butterflies and experience some South of the Border good times. We will make a craft, and release some tagged monarchs to make their journey down to Mexico.
    September 20, 21Goodbye Summer! Hello Fall! – Say goodbye to the warm summer sun, green leaves, and migrating critters, and welcome fall’s glorious colors and cozy sweaters! Learn why fall, just like every season, is so important, and make a craft that welcomes fall to your house!
    September 27, 28Oh Deer! – Come with us as we look for signs of our majestic friend of the woods, the white-tailed deer. We will head out on the trails to discover what they eat, where they sleep, and how to track them. We will prance around and wave our white tails as we learn about all the things deer need to survive.
    October 25, 26 Skeletons – Skeletons aren’t just for Halloween; we have skeletons and so do lots of other creatures. Did you know that a turtle’s shell is actually part of its skeleton? No bones about it; skeletons won’t seem so scary once we learn all about them!
    November 1, 2Fall Harvest -Join us in enjoying the bounty of fall’s harvest. We will hike through the fields and forest searching for a bounty of fruits, nuts, and berries, as well as learning about all the cultivated crops we enjoy in the fall!
    November 8, 9Star Gazers – Up, up, and away we go as we take a journey into the sky. We will learn about the planets, stars, and even the Earth’s moon. Come join us as we blast off and hopefully not get lost in space.
    November 15, 16Snakes! – Ah! It’s a snake! Conquer your fear or fulfill a dream in learning about these slithering creatures. We will get up close and personal with one of our friendly snakes here at the Nature Center too.
    November 22, 23Nuts to You -Let’s go nuts and have some fun! On a walk, we will discover and collect different types of seeds and find the plant that they come from. Afterwards, we will store our cache in a safe place for the animals of the forest.
    November 29, 30Who? Owls! – Owls are one of the most intriguing predators of the night. In this program, we will discover what makes these nocturnal creatures such silent and efficient hunters.

    Winter Series

    December 6 & 7 Story Time Winter – Spend a wintry day with us listening to nature stories. Bring a special stuffed animal to hug. The children will also make a craft to accompany each story. As always we’ll have new stories and crafts this year.
    December 13 & 14Tracks and Trails – Pull on your warm wintery wear, and come explore the Watershed Reserve, looking for the tracks and trails left by the animals that are active in this chilly season.
    January 3 & 4Winter Winds – Discover the cold and powerful wind! Blow bubbles to see which direction they go…make wishes with winter seeds. We will even make a wonderful wind instrument to take home!
    January 10 & 11 Birds of Prey Play – Hawks, ravens and eagles are large majestic birds that have some something in common. They are all raptors, or birds of prey. Come join us as we learn about these beautiful birds.
    January 17 & 18 Happy Chinese New Year -Join us as we welcome in the year of the Dragon! We will learn about Chinese New Year, why it is celebrated, and we will take part in a celebration of our own.
    January 24 & 25 Reptiles Are Fun – After listening to a story, the children will meet our resident reptiles in the Nature Center. A fun reptilian craft will complete the program.
    January 31 & February 1Secret World of Rodents – In this program we will explore the secret world of rodents to discover what they eat, where they sleep, and what they do throughout the day.
    February 14 & 15 Super Seeds -Discover the variety of small packages that seeds come in. Take a hike on the trails searching for those super seeds and make a craft to take home.
    February 21 & 22 Life Under Water – Some animals spend their entire lives under water. In this program, we will learn what it takes to stay under water for a lifetime. We even take a look at some of the crazy creatures that call the deep sea their home and maybe try and come up with some of our own.
    February 28 & 29 Sensible Senses – What does a tree smell like? How do our taste buds work? We’ll answer these questions and more as we touch, taste, smell, feel, and see our way through this program.
