Functional Rain Garden

A variety of native plants, uniquely adapted to this region and requiring less care, were selected. The plant list included: Swamp Milkweed, New York Aster, Turtlehead, Joe-Pye Weed, Turk’s Cap Lily, Virginia Bluebell, Bee-Balm, Wild Bergamot, Golden Ragwort, Culver’s Root, Royal Fern, and Wild Oats. A small fence was erected to deter browsing by rabbits and groundhogs but deer continued to be a problem.
